University of reading accommodation

hi there, I need some help regarding accommodation and the university of reading.
I have university of reading as my insurance choice and therefore cannot book the halls I want at the moment and is advised to apply for balls on results day by calling the uni .

My question is - do I book the Kendrick hall accommodation which is guaranteed(private accommodation) now ?
Or do I wait for an accommodation on results day by calling the university to get a directly
Provided hall - which would cheaper as well ?
In this case what is the likelihood of the availability of getting an en-suite room?

Thanks

Hi there,

It is great to hear that you have the University of Reading as your insurance choice! I understand that sorting out accommodation can be tricky, especially when you are waiting for results. Here are some points which might help you decide what is best to do.

If you decide to book Kendrick Hall (Private Accommodation) it will allow you to know exactly what and where you will be staying in when you begin your studies. This removes the uncertainty and and stress which you may feel when waiting for results day. This is also a good idea if you are set on having an ensuite room, by booking into Kendrick Hall, you will know for sure whether you have an en-suite or not.
It is important to consider that Kendrick Hall may be more expensive than some of our university-provided halls. More information on rough costs of 2023/2024 Reading University Halls can be found here.

If you decide to wait for results day to apply for halls here at Reading University, this is also a great option. It is worth weighing up price differences if you want to stick to a budget to see what option suits your budget best. Staying in our halls can also be a great option if you want to be close to campus as you will be right integrated into our beautiful, green spaces.
It is however important to consider that when applying for halls on results day, there is no guarantee that you will get the specific room type that you want, it will most likely depend on availability.

It is important to remember that the University of Reading does its best to accommodate students' preferences. Whichever option you choose, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and happy in your accommodation. Make sure to weigh up all the options! If you have any more questions or need further advice, feel free to reach out! You are welcome to also contact our admissions team if you have any specific questions, their contact details can be found here.

Best of luck with your results and decision making with regards to accommodation.
