The main differences from the top of my head are:

IAL has more options to choose from

IAL is for students outside of the UK, whereas AL is for UK students

IAL allows you to retake individual modules, whereas AL require you to sit all exam papers each year

IAL allows you to do A2 from AS, AL doesn't i.e. it's either AS or full A Level

You can probably do more languages with IAL than AL, but otherwise the range of subjects are more or less the same as far as I can tell

You probably can find more exam centres to take on private candidates in the UK than you would outside of the UK, but those in the UK tend to be for AL than iAL, whereas those outside of the UK would cater to iAL

If you are based in the UK, you should technically do AL by default since it's widely recognised in the country. iAL as far as I can tell is equivalent to AL, but it's not as widely recognised outside of uni.

Do you have specific subjects that you intend to do and where are you based?

They should be roughly the same, since they're both the same sort of qualification at the same level.
