Biological sciences but only one science

I do three A levels, Biology, Psychology and Business. I want to do biological sciences at univeristy but i know most universities will need one more science or math, which i dont have. only Durham doesnt need another science but other ones such as UCL do need this. I was wodnering if i had one science, Biology, would this be enough? like if i get the grades could they overlook the one missing subject? and if not then what do i go for? because my subjects are just so weird and im really lost. i also dont know what to write inmy personal statement if i dont know what im doing at university. pls help!

Broaden your university search. Difference bioscience degree offer different modules.
Nottingham biomedical
https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/studywithus/ugstudy/courses/UG/Biology-BSc-Hons-U6UBOLGY.html
AAB biology and another science.
Another science defined by Nottingham is
‘Psychology, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Geology, Further Maths. Statistics
Environmental Science, Computer Science, P.E.’

Different uni will define different A Levels named under science, so check entry requirements.
You can do:

I have given you 5 already. There are plenty more.

If a particular university requires 2 Sciences and you only have 1 it will be an automatic rejection. Avoid that university and look elsewhere.

You will find many universities accept students for Biological Sciences or Biology with 1 science. What counts as a science varies between universities. Some are very strict Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Maths whilst others include Psychology and Geography and sometimes other subjects.

Do your research properly and you will find loads of options. Biochemistry tends to be stricter than Biology or Biological science.

psychology counts as a science I'm pretyy sure, bc I do geo, soc and bio and alot of unis counted geo as my other science and I've seen pysch on the list. so maybe it depends where you want to apply

Hi there!

I have a degree in Biological Sciences (Medical Biology specialism). Psychology may be considered as a second science, and there are uni's that require only one science, such as Kingston. I would talk to your careers advisor about this. It may not be possible to overlook a missing subject by getting an A* in Biology, this is because another science helps to give you foundations for some modules you may do.

However, I did my A-levels back in 2020 so entry requirements may have changed! Please do not be discouraged to do a biological sciences degree and you are not at any disadvantage. I knew people that did Biology, french and history at A-Level and still went on to do a biological sciences degree.

kind regards, Jenifer (kingston rep)

Hi,

If you're considering Biological Sciences and don't have an additional science or math, Bournemouth University could be a great option for you. They offer a flexible range of entry options that might suit your A-levels, including a foundation year if needed. Other universities may require extra sciences or math, so it's worth checking directly with admissions teams.

The requirements are 104-120 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of two A-levels or equivalent qualifications. A combination of qualification and grades to meet the overall tariff, such as A-levels A*CC, ABC, BBB, or BCC, and BTECs DDM or DMM.

I’ll add the link to the course page so you can check out the units and entry requirements!
