gap year, the course changing from architecture to fashion
i want to take a gap year because i want time to figure out what i want to do, i applied to architecture and got all my offers and firmed UCL but i don't think i want to go into architecture anymore 😭 i want to do something in fashion, possible a fashion communication degree lololol , so im thinking of taking a gap year and working during that time as well as volunteering to also save up for uni most likely in london, so yeah im not sure 100% tho. my mum wants me to do it 😭 my dad doesn't mind but I dont know, someone lemme know if im stupid or if it's a decent idea and valid of me !!!

Ask UCL if you can defer your offer for 2025 entry, then you have time to think without losing your place if you change your mind during your gap year.

It sounds like you are going through a lot of emotions and decisions right now, and it is completely okay to feel uncertain.
Taking a gap year to figure things out can be a really smart move, especially if you are unsure about your current path. If you are feeling drawn to fashion and fashion communication, this time can help you make sure whether it really is the right path and explore that passion further.
Remember, education and career paths are not races. Taking the time to make sure you are heading in the right direction for you is important. You want to start a course and a career that you are passionate about and excited for. And, even if you decide to go back to architecture later, the skills and experiences you will gain during a gap year will be very much valuable.
Ultimately, you are the one who will be living with the decision, so it is important to choose a path that feels right for you. It is definitely not stupid to consider a gap year. It can be a very valid and beneficial choice. Trust yourself and take the time you need to figure out what you truly want. You have got this!
