Hi I’m currently doing my a levels and hoping to go to york in september to study sociology and social psychology. feeling pretty anxious about meeting the grades so just wondering if anyone knows how common it is to be let in with lower grades than what is expected in humanities subjects Thank you

Thousands of students get in every year after failing their offers. Whether you will is, of course, uncertain.
They can only decide this year’s leniency when they see this year’s results from their offer holders. Undoubtedly they’ve admitted people below their offers over the years.

I don't know if it's applicable to every course at York but I've got an offer to study philosophy there and you can get your offer lowered one grade by doing a MOOC and completing it by the first of July. so initially my offer was AAB/A*BB but now its ABB/A*BC. Should be more details in offer holder email

Hi there,
Congratulations on your offer to study at York, and I hope your exams are going well if you're not quite finished yet.
We do consider applicants who have narrowly missed the conditions of their offers. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that applicants who miss the conditions of their offers will be accepted. Most UK results will not be published until mid-August and it is at this time when a final decision will be made on your results. It's only when results are out that we will know how many students have met the conditions of their offer and how many places are still available.
