no longer sure on a gap year

okay so i originally had it that i wanted to take a gap year, because ive already done an extra year at college and felt the time would do me good and bc i didn't really think i knew what id do. but now i feel like i missed out on not applying or even exploring more options. i had an application to study criminology but never completed it. my last crim exam is tomorrow and then it's all officially over so idk if it's just the nerves of knowing i have nothing waiting for me after the summer

I’m actually in the opposite situation to you right now, I’ve got uni set up after summer but I’m thinking about a gap year! There’s plenty you can do in it, like travel, or get work experience. I was thinking about doing it tho so I could apply to other uni’s to explore my options. Also how are you feeling for the crim exam, I do crim too

the thing is like i have a job so im not doing absolutely nothing but it's just the thought of it being my only thing going. i think im just psyching myself out though bc my intention was to use this year to explore options fully and actually go to universities. but the crim exam i am not feeling ready for, unit 4 is the one ive struggled with the most so i just feel like i dont know anything at all 🙈 how are you feeling about it

Yeah I can see what you mean, I’ve got a lot of friends doing a gap year so I guess that makes me consider it more. I’m fairly confident for the crim test, hopefully they don’t throw any curve ball questions like they normally do lmao

see the few friends i do still speak to are all at uni so im still just feeling like a sitting duck. i think the social aspect of it makes me more anxious too because im just not really going to be surrounded by many people so its me weighing up an anti social gap year or uni and forcing myself to be social in the process lol

Yeah I completely understand, I think you could try and get an internship, or maybe a one-year apprenticeship. I believe those exist, and would look great on your cv
