A girl said im too old for her?
a girl came up to me saying she thought I was cute and asked for my instagram, so we added each other. After, I sent her a message saying it was nice to meet her and invited her out for dinner, then to my surprise she replied saying:
“Hey sorry I’m actually only 18 so I don’t think it’s appropriate we talk anymore sorry.”
Im confused cause I never told her my age, and I’m only 2 years older than her? i must admit on my instagram i look much older. My background is Mediterranean so i naturally have stronger facial hair and darker skin which makes me look older. E.g. my sister is 28 and my friends say i look older than her so I think she saw my instagram photos and changed her mind and suddenly now thinks I’m a lot older than what I am.
What should I reply? I don’t want it to come across as weird and desperate and I want to respect her message but at the same time I want her to also know my age /that I’m not as old as I look without it coming across as a weird thing to say

"Hi; I realise I do look a lot older in some of my pictures, but I'm actually only 20. If that changes things for you I'd still really like to take you out for dinner, but if not that's no problem at all."

Well, if you look older, it makes sense why she’s not interested. Be respectful and just say that’s okay, you completely understand, tell her ur age (and if you are really interested in this girl, maybe say that but not in a desperate way), like I think ur beautiful and would like to get you know, but I completely understand if you aren’t okay with our age gap, maybe make a joke about how much older u look and leave it at that.
She might not be okay with you being 20 too, you don’t know.
