Hey everyone,
I'm currently at a crossroads in my academic journey and could really use some advice. I'm currently studying finance, but I've come to realise that I need some changes in my academic life, especially regarding my postgraduate studies. After some research, I've narrowed down my options to two very different programmes: an MSc in Visual, Material, and Museum Anthropology (VMMA) and an MPhil in Economics and Social History.
Here's where I'm torn: on one hand, the MSc VMMA programme seems incredibly intriguing. It delves into the anthropology of visual and material culture, which is a field I've always been fascinated by but never had the chance to explore deeply. On the other hand, the MPhil in Economics and Social History offers a more traditional academic path that could complement my finance background well and potentially open up different career opportunities.
My main dilemma is whether it's feasible to apply for both programmes. They're quite different in terms of subject and focus, so I'm worried that it might come across as indecisive or unfocused to admissions committees. At the same time, I don't want to limit myself unnecessarily if I'm genuinely interested in both areas of study.
Has anyone here ever applied for multiple postgraduate programmes with divergent themes? How did you approach the application process, and did you encounter any challenges or pitfalls along the way? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your help!
