What would be a better career at the moment: Geology or Law?

Hiya I do a level geology, geography and computer science and I have the unique opportunity to do foundation humanities at Cambridge or Oxford. However, my a-levels more reflect the geology route but I've been told by my cousin, members of my family and my mates that geology isn't doing so well and I checked the average pay for various careers in it and it isn't as high as Law at the same postgraduate level.

Would it be better to do Law right now as a career. I have a genuine interest in perhaps International law but the employment numbers aren't very high.

Please give honest replies and answers, especially if I'm spouting rubbish.
Whatever is quicker and faster and cheaper to get, AI is right around the corner.
It depends what your long term aims are, and whether you're looking for money, job satisfaction or both. Society will always need both lawyers and geologists, but the top lawyers and solicitors will always command higher salaries. That said, law is always oversubscribed at university.

Hi @turbidite,
I'd advise to go for which ever path interests you the most whether it be geology or Law, as its important to be interested on what your carrier will be on, and try to not focus too much on pay (although i know this can be a hard decision). The geology society has lots of info about what careers geology can lead to and the salary for each of these. Careers (geolsoc.org.uk)
Hope this helps!

do geology

But why?
Money isn't everything. A geology graduate might find interesting work in, for example, environmental projects. Only aim for law if it interests you.

You can take a degree in any academic subject and then do a one year Graduate Diploma in Law if you wish to become a lawyer. About half of the lawyers in the UK took this route.
