Turn down offer from LSE and reapply?

Hi I recently got accepted into one of the non finance/economics course in LSE but I have a second thought on my course choice. I feel like the course I chose doesn’t really suit my desired career path(IB/finance) and I hardly saw anyone from my course getting into top IB firms. So I’m planning to turn down the offer from LSE this year and reapply to other course, since LSE don’t usually allow students to change course. If I turn down the offer this year, will it affect my application next year? (Like LSE looking at my application unfavourably..etc) If anyone has similar experience as me, pls share. Thank you
Investment banks don't care what subject you studied at degree level. Within the broader finance world it may be relevant for some roles (e.g. actuarial roles usually require a degree in maths/physics/engineering/CS/actuarial science/sometimes economics is acceptable too), but not for others (e.g. accountancy grad schemes also don't care what degree you did, or even usually where you did it).

If you are otherwise interested in and motivated for your current course I'd suggest just sticking with that.

My course is international relations and history, would it still be competitive enough to enter top IBs?

Provided you do it at LSE or another target uni, get summer schemes/internships etc, and prepare appropriately for assessment centre exercises and so on, no reason it wouldn't be that I can see...?
you could always do a post graduate course in something you wanted to do earlier like econ, and coming from such an elite uni, this shouldnt be too hard to do

What A levels are you doing? Would you be at all competitive for courses in economics? If not the question isn't particularly realistic.
Hi im in a similar boat, i have an offer for ppe but I'm not sure if i want to take a gap year and apply to warwick ppe instead. im mainly worried about the social aspect of lse and since im from london, if i do end up going i would stay in halls for first year and at home for the next 2. im just not sure if lse will provide a good experience but on the other hand warwick doesnt seem like it has a lot to do any thoughts?

But I heard you can only do masters related to your bachelor’s degree

they prefer if they are at least slightly related, but it is not necessary. i think you should ask yourself if you are prepared to do extra study in preparation to do a masters in the degree you really want. or you could try again and reject LSE's offer. may i ask what degree you got into LSE with? i am not sure if turning down LSE's offer will effect if you reapply, sorry. but i would say you should ask your teachers for advice. unis like warwick, UCL, cambridge are also really good for econ. did you apply to any of these?
