What do I need to do to get the maintenance loan while studying with open-university

I am starting a course this year with OU, and am unable to attend traditional university because of my mental health condition. I have applied for student finance and believe I am eligible for the maintenance loan, what evidence do I need for this. My GP has filled out a DSA form for me and I have the DSA1 form that student finance sent to me, is this all I need to send off? On my application it states I need an assessment report. As i don't need the disability fund is this necessary?

Hi there. DSA is a different product, but for the Maintenance Loan it would be a medical declaration we need to be completed by your Doctor/GP. If you haven't been emailed one by an assessor, you can contact us directly and we can email you one. Thanks, Leah.

ah right okay, I have applied for the DSA but I don't need that, i just need the maintenance loan - do i need to cancel my application and apply again?

No, you don't need to cancel the full application. We don't deal with DSA on here but if you want to ask them how to cancel this, you can contact them as below:

Tel: 0300 100 0607 (select the DSA option)
Email: [email protected]

Thanks, Leah.
