Can I still go to my firm uni choice if I'm one grade below entry requirements

So I'm wanting to go to lancaster and they have offered me BBB (as I got a contextual offer) but I am worried that I will only get a C in English as I have been stuck on C's throughout college.
Based on my exams, I have a feeling ill get an A in psychology (which is what I applied for at uni) so I would assume they'd let me in as the tariff points would then be equal to BBB. But, someone told me that the uni may automatically reject me and make me go to my insurance choice.
Is this the case or could I still call the uni on results day if I do not get the grades to haggle for my place?

I doubt they'll automatically reject you, especially if you outperformed their expectations for your subject of choice you shouldn't be too worried.

It's normal for universities to accept students who slightly missed their grades, I hope everything goes well!

Hi,

I applied for Computer Science and got offer ABB (1 grade lower than the standard requirements due to studying Computer Science and Maths at A-level). On results day I came away with ABC but I was still offered my place (for reference my A was in Computer Science).

Ultimately there are no guarantees that you will be offered a place but as someone who has been in a similar position to yourself, there is still hope that your offer will still stand. The university will decide on each offer and what to do should grades not be met or like yourself the tariff points being the same but not the exact grades and each is looked at individually but places are limited for each course so should your grades not be met and the tariff not accepted it will be down to the number of confirmed places and if there are any spaces on the course.

If you are worried about this then please do get in touch with the admissions team and ask them whether having the same number of tariff points but no the exact grades will still be accepted and see what they say as it does differ on departments and this is something I can't confirm. In regards to calling on results day, there is no harm in trying this however if all places are filled then there isn't anything that can be done.

I hope that hearing from a similar situation provides some reassurance but please do get in touch with admissions and see where the department stands on tariff points and missing grades as it may provide some peace of mind and give you some answers.
