How strict are SFE with financial hardship requests?

So I suspended my studies for mental health reasons earlier in the year but because everything took so long (partially my fault for filling out the forms incorrectly but also the uni for only just sending them off recently) I received my full maintenance loan all 3 semesters. I also spent it all as I have had to pay for all my meals and bills in that time (I definitely shouldn't have spent a penny of it I know this but I have done now and there's no going back)
I know that they take any money that was given to me while I wasn't in uni off from what I get next year, but manchester is expensive and me and my family are poor so I need the full amount. I've been told I can apply for financial hardship but I need to show them bank account records thag prove I can't afford to live in Manchester without the full loan. But my records will show me receiving a full loan and therefore having enough money.
What shall I do? Does anything think I will/won't be accepted for this? Is there anywhere else I can put this question if this is the wrong place?
Thank you in advance for reading/replying,
Hi Dannymcquaid,

The way to apply to defer your Overpayment would be to complete a Financial Hardship form and sending this with supporting evidence. i can't give information on if it is likely to be accepted as these cases are reviewed on a case by case basis.

Thanks,
Calum
