Intercalated degrees

What does Imperial and UCL look for when choosing external candidates for their intercalated degrees? Are A-level grades very important?

I think it depends on the course (check the website for specific degree requirements). I feel that the personal statement plus backing info becomes more important to be honest, showing an interest.

Hello, thank you very much for this. I am not the one who posted the original question but while we're on the topic of intercalated degree, I was wondering if it is genuinely necessary for someone who aspires to specialise in surgery in the UK? I am an international student currently studying medicine in the UK and the expenses involved are already insane! So I just wanted to check if having an intercalated degree really drastically impacts your application for surgical training🙂
