A-level computer science

Hi,
I'm in Y10 rn and considering computer science as one of my A-level subjects but not too sure yet. Could somebody tell me what it's like? Is it worth it? How is it different from GCSE computer science? (btw im doing OCR cs) Overall, do you recommend it or not?

If you're interested in pursuing CS/maths/physics at university, it's definitely a worthwhile option to take. A Level CS does not actually need GCSE experience to do well at it, and if you're not struggling with GCSE CS, you'll still do great at A Level most likely. I would recommend taking it as I had fun with it, but make sure you balance your subjects quite well depending on how good you are at it - e.g. CS has coursework which can be quite a big time sink if you're not careful. It was an enjoyable and not too complicated ride for me back when I did it and I'm sure if you like GCSE CS, it's a really nice follow up to it.

Hello,
Studying A-level Computer Science can be both exciting and challenging. It's a step up from GCSE Computer Science, diving deeper into programming, algorithms, data structures, and theoretical concepts like computational thinking. A-level Computer Science is more challenging than GCSE because it goes deeper into the subject. You'll need to learn more on your own and solve harder problems. You'll also work with tougher programming languages and learn about more advanced stuff. Deciding if A-level Computer Science is worth it depends on what you like and what you want to do in the future. If you love technology, solving problems, and thinking logically, then it could be great for you. It can lead to cool jobs like making software or working in cybersecurity. Good luck!
