Gcse maths to a level maths

If i get a grade 5 in gcse maths can i still do maths for a levels if not how does it work for me to be able to do maths at a levels as i am eager to do maths at a levels
Do i retake ? If i do does it affect my studys at a levels ?
Does it eat into my time at studying in 6 form ?

What are the requirements at your sixth form? Mine was that you need at least a 6 in your GCSE subject to pursue it a A level. A levels are harder than GCSEs especially a subject like maths. You retake if you want but I don't think the sixth form would pay for it since you would have passed. And yes it would be a little difficult revising maths and studying your A level subjects but if you can manage your time and think you can go for it.

At my 6th form it was a minimum of a 7, and even then an 8 was preferred. A level maths is not easy. So I'd retake if you're desperate to pursue it.

thanks for the info do you know how retaking works ? If i retake in november does that mean it can affect the start up of my a levels as school starts before november if so does that mean i have to wait after i get my retake results to do a level maths and see if i got the grade ?

It shouldn't affect your A level if you've got in but then I guess there wouldn't be much point in retaking. Contact your sixth form for info about that and contact the exam board about retakes.

I don't think you can retake in Nov. You'd have to sit the exams in the summer. It shouldn't affect your A level if you've got in but then I guess there wouldn't be much point in retaking. Contact your sixth form for info about that and contact the exam board about retakes.
Thank you so much will do

I had something similar with a friend. He decided to start off doing a out of school maths course, my sixth form knew so eventually let him on the course. The online courses cost can range quite a bit. Try contacting your sixth from about it. Although my class let some people in with grade 6 not 7 then ran an mini exam at end of term 1 to see if you were "worthy" to stay on the course.

If u get a 5 in maths, retake. Whether you can take it at sixth form depends on the sixth form as each sixth form has different requirements. But with all honesty, are you sure you want to actually take maths? I’m not trying to sound rude at all - but if you think you will just scrape a pass at gcse then why take it at A level? A level maths is a lot more intense

hey if ur college accepts u in a level maths course with a grade 5 do it! Ppl are saying not to since u got a 5, but dont listen to them do what u want but that doesnt mean dont work hard, in ur holidays just go over y12 content because the people ull be competing with are pretty hardcore. Just familiarise urself with y12 maths and if ur struggling alot then id recommend not to but im sure u can. I got a 6 and now im getting a B and aiming for an A if i can do it u can do it!!

If you think you can do it, go for it! Keep grinding and working hard - if finance is your dream then go for it. If you are thinking of resitting, studying for a gcse alongside a levels can be tricky but you’re not alone - I’m thinking of resitting 3 subjects. Sometimes you’ve got to do what you have to do in order to gain success.
