Maths equivalency test at MMU

I have received a conditional offer to study adult nursing at Mmu but they have requested I sit the maths equivalency test , none of the other universities have requested this and I have to have it done by 31st August. Has anyone any experience of this exam. I’m worried I won’t pass and I won’t be accepted onto the course . I have a level 2 adult numeracy certificate. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on getting your offer for adult nursing at Manchester metropolitan university.

Unfortunately every university in the UK has there own rules and regulations regarding whether a student has to do a maths and literature exam prior to starting a nursing degree.

Manchester metropolitan will contact you hopefully very soon to arrange with you to attend the university to do your maths test okay.
Don't worry to much about having to do it as it's just basic maths skills you have to do - dividing, multiplying, addition, subtracting and percentages, remember that you are going to be administing drugs etc to patients and you have to be able to work out what dosage etc you have to give them hence reason they do a maths test, yes you have to pass it...
If you have a level 2 adult numeracy certificate then you shouldn't have any problems in passing this test and get yourself to university for nursing.

I have not been to Manchester metropolitan university for my adult nursing degree as I am a NHS Scotland 2023 qualified adult nurse. I did a maths test as well despite having completing a 4 year's veterinary nurse degree months prior to starting my adult nursing degree in which you are dealing with animals in operating theatres and after care administering medication's .

Good luck with things
