For context I'm supposed to have --according to an old choir director-- a baritone voice with the small range (using C4 as middle C) from E2 to A3: sometimes up to B3 if I warm up for an hour and my throat feels like I've been crying for the whole day. With a faux countertenor-y voice, my range is G3 to B4- maybe up to C5 on a good day.
What voice type am I really? Is my technique just terrible? Any repertoire after 1600 is a no go. Unfortunately I'm not an abbot and it's hard to spring for tuition because neither myself nor my mum wants to pay for that.
Any answers welcome.
