MA Musical theatre: LAMDA or RWCMD

Hi! I am an international student who is going to enrol in a drama school in the UK for 24 fall.

I have got several offers for musical theatre and for acting. Now that I decided to continue in musical theatre, but I am facing a dilemma with school choices.

I live in France and I never had institutional musical training.

My focus is mainly on two schools: LAMDA and Royal Welsh.
(my dream schools are Mountview and GSA but I didn’t get them)
Btw I am also on the waitlist for Central.

I believe that LAMDA is a super drama school but their MT was created in 2023. We can’t see the outcome of the graduates. I talked to someone on the course but she has different aspirations for the course, so her opinions are not that useful in my case. I worry about the professionalism of their singing training, as I noticed for the first round of auditions, they asked us to sing unaccompanied. Isn’t that weird?

And RWCMD is also super cool voice training wise, but my only concern is its location. I know they hold showcase in London and many performances in Cardiff though. And we don’t see as many graduates in current West End shows.

Are there any auditioners with similar concerns/actors working in the industry/graduates that can share some ideas?

Singing unaccompanied is a great thing to ask as it means the assessors can really listen to what is going on in your voicce.

What are you main specialisms? Neither of those are triple threat which you need for West End. Do you dance, as Royal Welsh mainly focuses on drama and voice? Mountview is triple threat.
