Hi Inka2,
My daughter’s assessment started with the presentation in front of 2 members of senior management, one of them being head of sales for Lidl GB. It will depend on the assessment centre . Regarding her presentation it was either print at home preferably in colour or send in a PowerPoint for them to print, but make sure if you print at home you print at least 5 copies because you never know how many assessors you will have - could be 3 or 4 and you will want a copy for your own reference and you are absolutely not allowed access to your electronics. In my daughters experience they said that they try to match the assessors with the content of the presentation (she emailed hers the night before). In her case they said the presentation had covered everything and they had no further questions. Her tip here is their email says the presentation is for 20 mins it means you have 20 mins to complete - it doesn’t have to be 20 mins - if it’s 5 mins shorter, if you’ve covered your points it doesn’t matter. Don’t time fill.
Next was 15 mins networking session, make sure you prepare questions you want to ask about the company, their next steps, maybe find something to ask about other areas as you may speak to people who were not necessarily within the speciality field of your presentation, example you were logistics but you are talking to head of sales. Also don’t be shy in talking to them, they may be talking to someone but without being rude you can join their conversation and ask questions.
After that was interview time. Standard interview process, present yourself, make sure to talk about relevant experiences, (they won’t know your cv off the top of their head) also talk about interests and hobbies - remember they have a life too and it’s an opportunity for common ground! Know about Lidl and where they are headed, what their goals are, if they don’t ask you this then make sure you ask them, it shows you are interested.
Interview questions - (again this is for the management program) They asked lots of situational questions … pretend you’re this and this happens, would you do in this situation? Etc Prepare for anything they could ask you based on the graduate scheme ie learn what you may have to do in the supply chain, logistics , on the shop floor , maybe HR - start with the basics.
Some examples of what you might be asked; how would you motivate your team you excel during a holiday period?
Imagine you are the supply chain manager you have excess stock of a particular product that doesn’t sell well, how would you deal with this?
What excites you about Lidl? (Worth remembering to mention the what, the why and the how)
As she was leaving she got the chance to meet last years intake of grads - be sure to ask them any questions.
She said Be yourself, be authentic, don’t be timid or pushy.
That’s it really. Hope this helps. (I asked her specifics).
Good luck!
