Hi, Im also doing AH English this year too.
My teacher showed us a lot of authors that got the most marks, which were all classics like Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, Sylvia Plath, etc. We were also told not to go off of what texts we like but what will get the most marks.
I went for two Jane Austen books because there is a lot to say in them.
I was going to do Jekyll and Hyde but I was told that was a N5/ Higher Text so whatever texts you do I would see if it's used in N5 or Higher. I think the best literary texts would be two books instead of the poems, drama, short stories, and whatever else there is because you need to study more poems or stories if you choose the short stories or poems and that means you would have less to say about each, which also means you cant make as many points, seeing as the word count is like 3000.

You could try writing about a specific classic as talking about the main theme in the book and how that theme is presented by talking about metaphors, personification, symbolism ect and how these all emphasis the main theme
Suggestions for books I would recommend a good classic as their is so much you can talk about compared to contemporary writing there they can be a bit obscure and when you pick a well known classic their is lots of research you can find online because it is studied by many people especially in university

Confession’s of a justified sinner
Time traveller
Invisible man
Dracula
Grapes of wrath these are all really good classics to write about and lots of good themes I would suggest just reading a few classics your interested in because I haven’t read many classics so it’s hard to choose one because you don’t know much about hoped this helped happy reading 😂
