Post A-Level options help needed

I’m in year 12 at the moment studying maths biology chemistry, I am predicted As and Bs.

I am not really enjoying these however maths isn’t too bad if it’s not statistics. I have to apply to uni/ apprenticeships at the end of this year and start of next. I have no ideas on what I want to do, nothing seems to interest me. I have looked at engineering and finance as options for degree apprenticeships however these still don’t have my eye. I am leaning towards degree apprenticeships rather than a degree as would like to earn and not get into debt.

Does anyone have any suggestions about different career paths with my subjects and that could lean towards an apprenticeship instead of straight degree.

Apprenticeships in the sciences aren’t very common to my knowledge - so labs, and research work may not really be an option without a degree. You could look at healthcare apprenticeships - the NHS website has quite a few.

Hi,

I'd recommend having a look through the Institute for Apprenticeships website to find a degree apprenticeship which interests you - https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/. I'll list some below which you might want to think about.

Engineering (lots of types do degree apprenticeships) - civil, electronic, aerospace, mechanical
Technology - DTS/software engineering (effectively coding, and you don't need any previous coding experience)
Transport planning
Environmental consulting
Project management
Finance
Laboratory science (if you want to consider the biology/chemistry side of things) - have a look into which degree apprenticeships pharmaceuticals like GSK and AstraZeneca do

If you want, I can send through some links which might help you in the application process as well.

Hope that helps and gives you some ideas of the direction you can take in a degree apprenticeship. Let me know if you want those links and take care of yourself.
