There’s no specific role, if ur asking how it affects the rate of the equation then that would depend on if it’s 0, 1st or 2nd order which is dif for each questions so u have to work that our urself

I suspect you have come across a question where they’ve given you a proposed mechanism for a reaction and the mechanism involves H^+ ions.

If this is the case, look at the mechanism again. If the H^+ ions are consumed in one step and regenerated later, what might that suggest about their role in the reaction?
