How did iGCSE Edexcel Biology Paper 2 2024 go?

I think it went okay! So weird that this year has had so little human biology! Can anyone remember what the themes for question 4&5 were ive already forgotten and it’s really bugging me 😭😭😭

rigged like who puts protein synthesis for a multiple choice 😭😭😭 and how can someone even think of a way to combine fish farming and nitrogen cycle into one question 😭😭

i was so confused oml how tf does nitrates connect to water??? i waffled about nitrates have nitrifying bacteria which leads to eutrophication which is so wrong- last question was a **** show

Honestly , I couldn’t think of anything other than link to eutrophication and algal bloom💀💀, and what are we meant to say about the disease part of the question , I said the scientist didn’t specify using nets or antibiotics in the water so it’s unreliable 💀

ooooo that last point is good, i said that less disease means less aquatic life dies which increases biodiversity which is good for the environment? dude idk question 6 as brutal
Yeah I also struggled with time and normally in past papers timing seems quite generous! I’ve got to agree though these papers have been sooo weird and barely any human bio… I’ve got to ask, if anyone remembers, what did you put for the protein mass equation? I was panicking so much that I just scribbled something random down 😭 The last one I also spoke about algal bloom and eutrophication and how the GM was for growth not specially disease and the results showed nothing about disease so how could we make that conclusion? + mentioned that it needed repeating for more reliability bc that seems to always get a mark ahah! I’m so annoyed that these questions weren’t so much about your knowledge but more just piecing weird things together?? And the cloning question was only worth 4 marks, it should have definitely been more! Like I feel like the ones you could earn a lot of marks for were always such short questions (like the urine one) is that just me? Ahah sorry went off on one!

Hopefully
What did you put for the one about smoking and supplements and the second question about water loss and the apparatus

I said set up the apparatus under water, dry the leaves then put cappillary tube out of water to get a bubble then use a ruler and stopwatch to measure the speed of the bubble. I said the desert plant had less stomata and they were shut at higher light intensities and the leaves were smaller. The mineral ions (calcium) increases growth of fetus and smoking reduces growth as the baby gets less oxygen.

That sounds very good - I didn’t mention the stomata I mentioned cuticle (I’m probs wrong

I think i got 3002 for the protein pellet mass x

I think they’ll be quiet high tbh the questions werent too brutal x

I got 3000 because I did the other one but the question said the mass was the same - will I get a mark or nah

Yeah paper 1 wasn’t too bad and only thing k found difficult was the final question on paper 2

i cant remember if it was 1 or 2 marks, if it was 2 u should get 1 for wiorking, but if it was 1 they won't give it as its not correct, but don't stress its only 1 mark! xx

yeah that last question was brutallll i waffled about eutrophication, but tons of people found that hard so it might lower the boundaries a bit? x

omg i completley agree... the urine questions i mentioned ADH and all the past papers i had done involving ADH where worth around 4-5 marks but these where 2-3!!!!! so bizarre and i found myself writing way too much idk why.
