yeah that last question was brutallll i waffled about eutrophication, but tons of people found that hard so it might lower the boundaries a bit? x

Hopefully yh - i talked about eutrophication as well

I think it went okay! So weird that this year has had so little human biology! Can anyone remember what the themes for question 4&5 were ive already forgotten and it’s really bugging me 😭😭😭

the athlete urine and bubble potometer one? i didnt even see the q number tbf

Yeah I also struggled with time and normally in past papers timing seems quite generous! I’ve got to agree though these papers have been sooo weird and barely any human bio… I’ve got to ask, if anyone remembers, what did you put for the protein mass equation? I was panicking so much that I just scribbled something random down 😭 The last one I also spoke about algal bloom and eutrophication and how the GM was for growth not specially disease and the results showed nothing about disease so how could we make that conclusion? + mentioned that it needed repeating for more reliability bc that seems to always get a mark ahah! I’m so annoyed that these questions weren’t so much about your knowledge but more just piecing weird things together?? And the cloning question was only worth 4 marks, it should have definitely been more! Like I feel like the ones you could earn a lot of marks for were always such short questions (like the urine one) is that just me? Ahah sorry went off on one!

bro actually like why are they testing our common knowledge in bio?? and the urine one WHY WAS IT 3 MARKS like i needed the entire space all for 3 marks where its usually more, and no heart no coordination?? like bye what p1 was basically just plants and seeing transpiration in p2 made my nerves pop

That sounds very good - I didn’t mention the stomata I mentioned cuticle (I’m probs wrong

Don't stress that's a good point i should've mentioned that tbh

What was the answer to why sugar and salt were put in the cryofreeze?

prevents cells from swelling and bursting

Does anyone remember what they put for why the GM fish is bigger even though they were fed the same food?

more protein synthesis occurs. more translation and transcription so more amino acid chains formed ao more protein

Around 140-143 mby

It will be lower as 2019 was 134 and 2023 was 142 to counter grade inflation
So i reckon like 136/137
Cuz they will now decrease as grade inflation is under control
Ive asked my teacher abt this and he said it applies to all subjects so it should get closer to 2019 ie decrease

also 2023 had 142 for a 9 which is the highest its ever been since they changed to a number grading system just reassuring us more

Last question i put: gm fish are designed to grow faster than non-gm fish. this means that the gm fish require less fertiliser to be used, leading to less nitrates in the sea. less nitrates leads to less eutrophication and then i waffled about algal bloom and stuff like that. For the spread of disease i said how bc gm fish lead to less eutrophication and therefore less plants dying, the decomposing bacteria have less decomposing plants to feed on. so more bacteria die, leading to less spread of disease. i just came up w the disease point in the last 5 minutes lmao

im really confused tho cuz I thought fertiliser is for plant growth not animal growth

I thought the gm fish absorbs more protein so less protein in their faeces so less ammonia made by decomposers, less nitrites so less nitrates

fertilisers are used for plant growth but plant growth are beneficial for animal growth. so increased fertlisiers = more nitrates = more plant growth = animals have more to eat = more animal growth
