What should I study alongside English Lit and classics?

I'm going to study Classics alongside English literature, is it better to take sociology or philosophy? Which compliments English literature better? I think I'm leaning more towards philosophy but I'm still undecided.

What is it you want to do later?

Philosophy has some obvious links to classics through ancient philosophy, and some broader intellectual links to literary analysis and criticism. Sociology also has some links to literary analysis and criticism (some social theorists also developed theories which were used in literary criticism).

Probably best to just pick which of the two you think you'll enjoy more and do better in  Neither is a bad choice!
