Messed up A Level Business

Had 2 anxiety attacks and missed 45 minutes of the last exam, I didn’t complete enough of the paper at all probably only just getting half way through. The exam board is being notified of what happened but what’s the likely outcome of this? Will they guess how many marks i’d have gotten on the second half based on first half? How does it work?

I think they can give you plus 5% on your overall grade for extenuating circumstances. You can still get an A grade with just sitting two papers (2023 grade boundaries A grade 193/300) so don't beat yourself up about it. Well done for getting through it because A Level exams are hard. I don't know which exam board you did but I do AQA and honestly wasn't a fan of any of the papers.

Thank you for this but I won’t get an A, or even towards a C for that matter. I’ve only ever gotten around 30 marks per paper ever based on mocks and revision questions and missing so much of that exam with the lack of completing most the paper will reduce my chances of even scraping an E as I need 90/325 roughly for this grade. It’s really stressing me out because it’s my worst subject, and the university I’m hoping to go to needs BBC, however they said they’d consider a grade drop by up to two grades potentially, meaning if I got an E I could still have a chance. However, ungraded would stop me from going to majority of universities in the uk full stop as it means I would’ve only managed to achieve two A Levels in my three years at college. I’m just really worried and feel this one exam will completely ruin my future.

worst case scenario you can always resit. there is no point stressing as you cant change it. If you do decide to resit - not sure which board you are using but if its AQA or Edxcel then Tutor2u and Bisconsesh are but really helpful free resources on YouTube. If your doing AQA I can send you some bits which might help for resits and they will have a new spec next year (AQA) and looking at the new spec the question layout is so much nicer.
if its any consultation I am resitting business studies as i was 3 marks off my grade last year.
You can also do access to HE if A levels are a bit to tricky (if your over 19).
none of us know the grade boundaries as long as you answered everything to the best of your ability you will likely gain some marks. The examiners are teachers but they all mark differently.
last years grade boundaries' for AQA
A* - 217, A - 193, B - 163, C - 133, D - 103, E - 73

Do you know when resits are? I can’t do another year out as i’ve already stayed back a year to do better with my grades as well and it’s just not gone in my favour at all, so a second year behind just would not suit me really. If they are in August or so I’d be happy to resit but otherwise I’m not sure what i’ll have to do. I’m with Edexcel 🙂

Resits unfortunately mean repeating the year, you can do this as a private candidate where you pay the fee to the college 6 months before the exam or you can repeat year 13 if your school/college allows this. As A levels don't have any official resits dates just Exams in May and June 2025.

That would be my third time sitting year 13 if that was the case, shame they don’t do November ones like GCSE’s really.

I agree with you, November resits would be awesome. If A levels are a bit to difficult it could be worth looking at HE as thats more Btec based however check with the uni that you want to go to do make sure you cover all the units required.
I know A levels are hard, I am dyslexic and really struggle to understand the questions.
