A level physics

Hey guys!
The post is about Astrophysics,A level Edexcel.
So,we know that we can use tan theta=1 Astronomical unit /1 parsec, and eventually we can calculate the value of the parsec,if the angle of parallax can be determined.
So,if we are finding the value of the parsec, aren't we essentially finding the distance of the star from the Sun,rather than the Earth?

Yes but for practical purposes i.e describing the distance to the nearest star its so nearly the same thing that no one worries about it.
