Part time jobs in Manchester

Hi guys I’m 17 turning 18 in about 6-7 months. I’ve been looking for a job now for ages and I’ve applied almost everywhere on indeed but they either never get back or I don’t have the experience but I’m not how I’m meant to have the experience if no one will hire me or they’ll either need someone who’s 18+ if there’s anywhere who does hire teenagers in Manchester specifically around Leigh, Wigan, Walkden, Salford. Please let me know. I really need a part time job

Have you tried fast food places? They take on a lot of students.
As well as looking on indeed, quite a few places (e.g. mcdonalds, tesco etc) require you to apply on the careers section of their websites.

Hello @Simxkg,

It is really good that you are looking to find some part time work experience in Manchester and I am sorry to hear that it has not been easy to find a part time job. I thought I would pop you a message with some other ways to look for part-time work outside of searching on Indeed.

Firstly, I would say the old fashioned way of walking in to places and handing in your CV. This way of doing things may work better, especially if it is local businesses like coffee shops, book shops or bars/pubs to name a few. Sometimes the face to face interaction is a great way to show your interest in any vacancies they may have. So I would say print off your CV and have a day out going from place to place. I know this is the old fashioned way but if the system isn't broke don't fix it.

Secondly I would say, if they are slightly bigger organisations like; Tesco, Asda, Macdonald's, Costa Coffee etc. Their individual websites might be the better place to look and apply for part time work, instead of doing it through a third party. So do have a look there to see if you can find more leads.

I would also say that if it is part-time work you are looking for to help support you before coming or while at university, do not panic too much if you cannot find a job before your teaching starts. As there is also a load of part-time work that you can do while at your institution that would help support you financially. Whether that be a student ambassador, bartender at the SU or Library assistant to name a few, there will be plenty of opportunities to find part time work while at university. Plenty more information on when and where to sign up to that would be given during welcome week or available to ask about through careers advisors.

I do hope this helps you find a part-time job, or you have already found one before reading this post would be even better news.

If there is anything I can do to help, do let me know.
