Is a 5 ok in my English language year 10 mock

I found out I got a 5 in my English language paper 2 mock and I’m really upset because I’m worried I won’t get into any sixth forms and I definitely don’t want to go to college. For example, I want to do politics, psychology and economics at a level and for politics I need a 6 in English for my sixth form as well as psychology. I still have an English literature mock in a week but I’m just really worried because I really thought I did well in this mock and my school keeps on talking about how our grades determine our sixth form and I just don’t want to get rejected from any sixth form and fail.

I am a bit grateful I must say because the teachers spoke little of the gcses towards when they started.

first of all, when you get the paper back, try to understand what went wrong.
maybe it was the comprehension side of it, or maybe the writing.

secondly, I am predicted a 5, too. during the mock, I felt like everything i wrote was good, but I also felt like the paper just wasn't it. The 2024 paper 2 was honestly really good for Eduqas, and I feel more confident now that I may get a 6 or above .

since you are going into year 11, now is the best time to revise paper 2 (during the summer)
this doesn't have to be revising 24/7 because you will get burnt out or probably worry even more.

you can try to do another past paper in your room while putting on the timer of however long the exam is. you can then potentially ask your teacher to mark it. or you can do it online on like, e.g., a Google doc and try to find someone online such as discord , or even here where they can mark it for you or give some feedback

both white book and coloured book are useful (I use them in science)

Hell yeah. You are on the right track, keep doing what you are doing and dont be so hard on yourself. You are very close to a grade 6 and you are only in year 10 so dont worry, you will get there. Dont listen to your school, i remember last year when i was in year 11 and was applying to sixth forms, all they asked me if i was certain that i was going to achieve grade 4 and above in maths and english and asked what my predicted grades were ( idk if they will ask you the same questions). For sixth forms to accept you, they will either offer an interview you or reject you (BUT only because they prioritized the internal students first so the applications might of been full - but this can change as internal students might change their mind and go to a different sixth form which will then lead to the sixth form emailing you a place if you are still interested).
