How do I work in the TV industry but how?

I really want to be a producer will I have to start at the bottom and work my way up?

Hi @Thislife100121

This is a great aspiration!

I'm also in a creative based subject, and I would say the most essential thing to working yourself into the role you want is to have experience. This can be in a producer role or something that allows you to use transferable skills from another role.

I'm not sure where abouts you are now in your education, but there are degree level routes in relevant courses that could help you reach your goal. There are also lots of vocational courses in media which could be useful.

If you're looking for a more hands on approach, have you tried looking for work experience or an apprenticeship or internship in a relevant role? This could be something you could try over the summer.

You could also try creating your own work to help build up your portfolio of work. This can also be a great way to gain more experience and practice your craft, so you have more work to reflect on in interviews in the future.

Best of luck. 🙂
