Companies for Comp Sci Degree Apprenticeships?

Hello! I'm a year 12 student looking for companies that do degree apprenticeships for Computer Science, but so far I've only found companies like Dyson, Barclays or Siemens that offer them, and other opportunities out there seem sketchy as they either have a partnership with some incredibly obscure University, or do not list whether I will get a Bachelor's/ Master's after I complete it. Anyone out there who have came across other companies that offer legitimate Comp Sci degree apprenticeships that will actually give me a uni equivalent qualification? Anything in the realm of Computer Science/ Technology will work, thank you so much!

A friend of mine is on a computer science degree apprenticeship.

Their role is essentially in consulting, where the apprenticeship is structured as a 'study-first' one. They attend Uni like everyone else but in between terms or during the summer break, they would go to their firm and get placed on a project for experience. They rotate through different sub-departments like development or data etc. In between their penultimate and final Uni year, the firm puts them on a 10-month placement (which they are currently on at the moment). From what I hear, I'm slightly jealous as there is no student debt build up and they graduate with 4 years experience, a degree and a continued job with that employer. Whether its term time (where it's no different to being a uni student) or on placement, they earn a wage of around £1.2K - £1.5K per month until they graduate.

They're with PWC, I've heard the others at the Big4 offer something similar. Their hiring sites should explain what Universities they're partnered with. Also look at large tech consulting firms for something similar. Applications for these roles open up as soon as you start year 13 so be ready!

This was incredibly helpful, thank you so much! I'll keep an eye out for any opportunities coming up XD

Hi, I'd recommend looking into the Digital and Technology Solutions (DTS) degree apprenticeship. This is the main degree apprenticeship for computer science/coding/software engineering and a lot of companies do this scheme.

Furthermore, Russell Group universities such as Exeter, Queen Mary and Warwick do this scheme, so it is not just obscure universities.

You can find out more about it on the Institute for Apprenticeships page - https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/apprenticeship-standards/digital-and-technology-solutions-professional-v1-2. FYI this is a BSc Level 6 qualification so exactly the same level as a normal university degree.

Other companies include JLR, AstraZeneca, JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank. But really, loads of companies do DTS because all companies need digital services. Just have a think what industry you'd want to do computer science in. If it's finance, look at the Big Four companies. If it's engineering, look at the big engineering companies. If it's pharmaceutical, look at pharmaceutical. They all do them.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you need anymore information - if you want, I can send through some links to help you in the application process. Just let me know.

Otherwise, take care of yourself and good luck.
