Dressing more smarter will also be the safest choice (until your a few days in and get a feel of how casual you can go).

Best option is to call them when you get the chance and find out what is appropriate and what isn't. Dress on the smart side on your first few days and then adjust to what you see.

I did work experience in a primary school in both the reception and nursery classes. I wore cargo pants, a top, and trainers, and it was fine. Depending on the year group you'll be working with, your outfit choice might vary. Since I was in reception and nursery, we often dealt with arts and paints, so my clothes would frequently get dirty. You may want to take that into consideration when choosing what to wear.

Go for smart-casual and comfortable, think plain trousers, a neat top or blouse, and closed-toe shoes. Avoid anything too flashy or tight, since you’ll want to be practical and approachable around the students. Layers are a good idea too, since schools can vary in temperature.
