Also will UCLAN provide a bus to transport to Westlakes campus ?
Hi there,

It's great to hear that you are looking to study MBBS Medicine & Surgery (Foundation year) here at UCLan. 😊

To help answer your questions here, let me reach out to one of our course tutors for more information and I'll let you know as soon as I know more about the structure of this course.

When you mention about bus transfer to Westlakes, here at UCLan we do offer an Airport Transfer Service for all new overseas students who are arriving into Manchester Airport. The service will run between Wednesday 18 September and Saturday 21 September 2024. You can learn more about how to book an airport transfer here.

Many thanks ^Sarah 😊

Hi there,

For our MBBS Medicine & Surgery (Foundation year) programme I've been advised that students won't need to buy any clinical equipment as they will all be provided in the clinical skills sessions. In time, you may want to purchase your own but we recommend that you get used to various models in the classes first.

In terms of interacting with patients, there are no volunteer patients in the Year 0 curriculum. This will start from Year 1 at our Preston campus.

I hope this helps but do let me know if you have any other questions. 😊

Best wishes ^Sarah

Well I have one more query...as I am joining MBBS with foundation year...I will progress to Year 1 just after meeting the passing requirements of the subjects in Foundation year right...I don't have to give any interview I suppose ??...because I just asked someone and that person told she got an offer from some oncampus UK that the progression to Year 1 is not guaranteed and that person can also apply to other colleges as well ? What is the difference...for me is it guaranteed to go to first year after just passing the exams in foundation year and no interview for me right ?

Please UCLAN Ambassador clarify this for me ?

Hi there,

Thanks for your questions here. It's great to hear that you will be joining us in September to study on our Medicine & Surgery (with Foundation Year) programme. 😊

For international students who are studying on our MBBS with Foundation Year (Year 0) programme, they will need to meet the below requirements to the progress onto Year 1:
Average percentage mark (APM): 75%. Note that APM is calculated using only the science and maths modules (XYC001, XYC002 and XYC003).
A minimum score of 70% in the biological and chemical systems module (XYC001); and
A minimum of 70% in the body systems module (XYC002).
Pass (40%) in XY1006, EF1503 and EF1337 modules.

I hope this helps and do let me know if you have any questions. 😊

All the best,
Laura

Hi there,

The deadline for course enrolment isn't usually until October, however we recommend you enrol onto your course as soon as possible. If you don’t enrol in time, it may affect payment of your student loan, access to university services and your Visa if you are an international student.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Best wishes,
Sarah

Hi there, I have a question, so I was looking up on Internet and at some places it is said that central lancashire university is part of Russell group so I wanted to confirm if that is the case.

Hi @beebaAli ,

Thank you for your message here. I can confirm that we aren't a Russell group university. Here at the University of Central Lancashire, we are proud to be an international, multi-campus university and to have a thriving community of over 42,000 students and staff from more than 100 countries.

Our vision here at the University is to create a world-class campus for the benefit of students, staff and the surrounding community. There's been a lot of recent investment in our campuses and we have been named Edufuturists University of the Year 2023 due to our innovation and progressive approach to education.

We are proud to have fantastic, dedicated student support teams across our campuses who are always there to support students with all aspects of University life such as study support, financial and careers advice as well as mental health and wellbeing. That's why we were ranked third in the UK for our mental health support by HUMEN's University Mental Health League Table 2022.

Student life here at the University of Central Lancashire is very affordable. Our on campus accommodation starts at only £85 per week and we have been named the most affordable university in the UK (The Times, 2023). We provide lots of support and advice to our students on how to manage their finances.

I hope this gives you a bit more information about our university, if you have any questions at all, do let me know. 😊

Best wishes,
Sarah
