Swap access to medical studies edinburgh

Hi all! I need help…
I’m a dental nurse very interested in the Oral Health Science course at GCU. I’ve applied to Edinburgh College Sighthill campus for SWAP access to Medical Studies as advised by the university and college (awaiting response, application is currently under review) I’ve been studying Nat 5 maths for the entry exam, however I’m slightly nervous and concerned as to how the exam and the interview will look like.

Is anyone on here who has applied for such course and has gotten in? Is it possible to ask if they would like to share their experience with the exam and the interview?

Many thanks x

Hey! I got an offer for the course. Interview was easy peasy - they just asked me what are my plans after the course, which universities I'm planning to apply and if I've been working on my UCAT yet. The tutor asked me also if I have any relevant experience that is needed by universities.
As for math test - it's done at the beginning of the interview. You have few questions to do. I think mine had 15 marks in total. You can use scientific calculator.
I might be wrong, but I think if you will not pass the math test then instead of interview for the course they will present you with other course options (at least it was a case last year, when I've applied for SWAP Life Science).

There is also 2nd interview with a lady from SWAP. Mine is on Tuesday, so I don't know how it will look like. But I've been told it will be similar - she will ask about plans after course and it would be better to have strong reasons of why you want to study this course.

Hi, I was wondering what qualification did you have because I applied and they asked me for national five

Currently doing SWAP Access to Medical Studies. I would recommend doing your highers instead, especially for oral health. Edinburgh cancelled their Dental Therapy Course last year and Dundee announced this year that they are no longer accepting access courses.

Newcastle and Manchester also don’t accept Scottish access courses. That leaves less than 30 spaces in Scotland across GCU & UHI with over 200 applicants.

I honestly feel like I’ve wasted the last 2 years doing SWAP.

Also the lecturers care more about the people wanting to do vet med, dentistry or medicine.

Never heard from you what qualification did you have? I’m really scared because I didn’t hit my national qualification and I don’t know to be honest. Please answer me.
