Changing uni course. Advice needed.

I am a first year Sociology student, will be going onto my second year and I am thinking of changing my course, to Law.

I was going to go through with this, but after receiving some of my module grades back, I’m not sure if I should anymore because university is really hard. You’d imagine sociology to be easy, and you’d imagine the average student to get decent grades, however my most recent feedback was 55% for one, and 62% for the other. For the overall course I’m averaging low 2:1s and I’ve scored 2:2s for two of my very big assignments, I’ve managed to reach a low 70% on only 2 of my assignments.

When I imagine Law I imagine it to be MUCH harder than Sociology, so me scoring 2:2s and low 2:1s in Sociology just makes me think I’m going to fail all my modules if I do Law.

I’m not really a stupid person, I put a good amount of effort into all my work. Academics has been pretty tough for me because I have a history with depression which really messes with my motivation and my attention span especially with assignment work.

My question is:

Will Law be manageable for an individual with a very trashy attention span and whose grades, despite trying their very hardest, may not be considered the best? Especially if the individual is hoping to achieve a 1st, or a high 2:1.

Any new insight / opinions would be helpful.

(I apologise if this is a stupid post, but I really don’t have anyone else to get advice from other than social media.)

if you're averaging a low 2:1 then you're on par with lots first years. the reason you have 3 years, of which the 1st is typically not part of your final grade, is to give you time to adjust

now, you may not like sociology, or you may really like law, but nothing you've said implies that. i think you're just getting cold feet
