Hi

You'll actually find that more and more boys and adult men are applying to do all sorts of nursing fields ( children, adult, mental health, midwifery degrees) in these modern days unlike many years ago when it was a woman dominated job.

@Emily_B can you perhaps address this more for the OP thanks as a adult nurse so they have better knowledge regarding boys and men working as nurses 🙏 🙏

Good luck with your application for nursing as you'll probably love doing it once you start ( obviously you need to gain a place at university).

My husband is a registered adult nurse, as is my brother-in-law.
My father-in-law is now retired from being a registered adult nurse. There's more men in nursing than there were when he did his nurse training.

Yes, as a student nurse the majority of your classmates and colleagues will be female, but that won't stop you making friends and it's unlikely you'll be the only male in your class.

I'm a registered nurse, and practice assessor to a lot of student nurses. Although the majority of my nursing colleagues are female, you'd be surprised how many men there are on my nursing team! The only thing that makes the men amongst the students I assess/supervise stand out is their gender - they either struggel or excel just as much as the women do.
