Border Force 2024

Hi,

I'm joining the Border Force this year, and wondering about the restrictions on piercings, hair colour and tattoos. I have facial and ear piercings along with an unnatural hair colour. Are there any restrictions on these? And if I could wear retainers for my piercings or have to completely remove.

Hello Sophie,

I would advise going into the portal where your application is, and seeing if they have a contact us page.
That would probably be your best bet

Hi there. There are restrictions on piercings as a rule, I have a few in ears but no one has raised concern. Can't say I've seen anyone with facial piercings though. Tattoos are no bother provided they are not offensive or on your neck or face - behind the ear and back of neck I believe are acceptable. I did have to change my hair colour though, nothing formal but various people raised it so I ended up having to go a natural colour 😕. Obviously they might be more strict in different departments.
