a level choices again..

hey guys, after some consideration i’m definitely choosing biology and chemistry for my alevels. but i have been really considering my third option, so just thought i would ask for some help. i am also doing an epq.

i am really interested in doing something in healthcare, medicine or veterinary sciences. or any science based subject in general, however i am not huge on physics.

does anyone have any ideas for a third subject.

i love drama and think i could do well but i’m really unsure wether this would be accepted by a uni.

possibly english lit/language but would prefer a subject that is more coursework based.

maybe history but ive heard many people complaining of the content ahah.

could anyone let me know what a good choice would be or wether drama is a sensible choice?

With universities, they list their minimum entry requirements, being grades and/or specified subjects.
Pick drama. You like it and it has coursework.
With medicine, bio and chem secures you. https://www.themedicportal.com/application-guide/choosing-a-medical-school/what-a-levels-do-you-need-to-be-a-doctor/
E.g Nottingham https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/studywithus/ugstudy/courses/UG/Medicine-BMBS-U6UBMBSC1.html
‘AAA: must include biology (or human biology) and chemistry.’ They do not care about the third subject itself, just the grade.

unless you want to study med at cambridge, where some colleges specifically want three 'science' A-levels
that's an extreme case though

psychology is good too, considered as a science, shows you can write too and very enjoyable

hi! they sound like great options so far, they should be fine for any science/med unless applying to cambridge where youd need 3 stem subjects
if very interested in cambridge/anything similar maybe consider maths ( i havent seen any of your prev posts so not sure if youve considered) im currently doing chemistry and find maths quite useful
although as 2 are completely fine/enough, id recommend going for a subject youre likely to get the highest grade-so maybe drama as you say you enjoy it
good luck!

As long as you've got a level chem and bio and you get AAA or higher then you should be fine with those courses in most places. I know someone that did a level chem, bio and welsh and they got into medicine
Pick a subject you enjoy! I know someone who has applied to medicine who did politics as his third option.

How about Maths?
Or psychology. Its a bit different in that its more of an essay subject than the others, but its still a science.
Or sociology. I did it at both GCSE and a-level and loved it.

I second the option of taking Drama. I’ve heard some healthcare workers say that it helps them with stuff like bedside manner and improvising helps with reaction to the unexpected, which of course is to be expected in those professions!

Most UK medical schools only require 2 science based A levels, so I would say pick the subject you enjoy the most as your third - I know people in medical school with their third subjects in things like philosophy. Assuming you aren't applying to oxbridge or for engineering, you can pick Drama and forget Physics. I would recommend only picking English lit if you enjoy it and are prepared to write many essays and read many books. Whether you pick Drama or English, I really don't think either will negatively impact you in your application.
I'd suggest maths.
