A level revision notes for university

Hi,

I have load of psychology work and revision notes from A level psychology and am planning on studying psychology in university.

I was wondering for anyone doing a psychology degree and did A level psychology whether my A level notes and revision is useful to keep, I assumed that it is probably very different and I should just chuck them away but is it worth me keeping it for university?

Thanks.

Hiya, psychology student here!

It depends on your university and what content is covered, but I would say it could be helpful as a refresher. But honestly, I don't think you need it. In most courses, psychology A-Level isn't a requirement to apply, so there will be people in the course who will be studying psychology with a completely blank slate. So, all the basics you need to know will pretty much be covered

Hi @St0Rm1305

I would agree with the previous post, it is not necessary to have your previous notes as most courses will start from the very beginning.
I remember when I did my BA in French, I had my notes from primary school, but I realized I didn't need them at all, because we started from the basics.
That being said, the stuff you learnt will be extremely valuable to you personally, as it may help orient you and understand the basic terminology easier.
At the end of the day, whether or not you keep the notes is up to you, the important thing is that you already have a good base of knowledge for starting your chosen course.
All the best

Hi, I also did a psychology A level and I'm now in my second year studying it at uni. I kept my notes but I honestly never used them, all of the information covered in the A Level is available for free online and to be honest, a lot of the stuff they teach at A Level is too basic to be relevant beyond first year. For example, Milgram was taught in a far more critical way in my second year than it was during my A Level, which meant that most of my understanding of the study and what it found was largely irrelevant! Additionally, the majority of university psychology courses assume no prior knowledge of the subject so any knowledge that you need will be taught from the basics anyway.
Overall, I would say that keeping your notes in a physical sense is largely unnecessary and a waste of space, but if you have them digitally or want to keep them for nostalgia then go for it
