I’m sitting my GCSEs right now and honestly I’m really realising how bad my school is we haven’t don’t half the content. I have applied to other sixth forms, all which are grammar school (mine current school is a normal secondary school), but I’m unsure if I should move. 1.) I think it’ll be really stressful and the pressure will be crazy because rn I’m really lazy and honestly getting by through day-before revision which would defo not fly there and 2.) I would have no friends. But the difference is crazy, in my school the A*- B percentage is 50, but at these schools it’s 75%+. I’m not sure I’ll even get the grades to get in tbh. I’m scared that if I get into any of them, I’ll get into a boys only grammar secondary with a mixed sixth form and idk that kinda scares me as a girl 😭 also to get to these schools it will take me double the journey time which is a bit annoying. I really don’t know if I’ll get in but I hope I do just so I at least have options :frown: is it worth moving if this is the situation? I don’t want to be some friendless girl struggling to get to school on time and pass the class 😭

Go for it bc at the end of the day even if you have 'friends' and your grades are bad, you carry it for the rest of your life. grammar schools usually have grade requirements to go some subjects to keep in mind or look for a better secondary. pls: many girls go to boys schools with mixed sixth forms and do fine 🙂 i think the girls will even stick together

It’s really a balancing act of pros v cons. But some advice I can give is if you hate whatever sixthform you end up you can defer your place for a year. Though this means they hold a place for you next year it also means you have the ability to apply to different sixthforms to start the next year. This will give you some time off if your struggling and means you get to apply to sixthforms you may not have looked at before and can be really good. So no matter where you end up don’t worry if it’s going bad as you always have this option.

Obviously idk why you apply to gramma and if it’s an environment you like then go for it. What I will say is that gramma schools are highly competitive and set students against eachother. For someone who went to mainstream state school to then go to a school like that as well as dealing with the extra work load of sixthform it can be overwhelming.
