Is it a good idea to take my a levels

I got a 5 in my gcse and I’ve been out of education for 3 years, I want to take my a level in maths but my mum is telling me I should re take my gcse as I’m not good enough for them, I don’t think I’m as smart as her at mathematics but I’m not dim when it comes to maths either, and I do love maths and studying it. For reference all my family on her side went to Oxford or Cambridge and did extremely well there, so that’s added pressure/expectations

Hi @lucyjane...,

Holding 5 GCSE at 4-9/A* to C is what is typically asked for taking A-levels (level 3) and university.
Its a common to be asked for a grade between 6+/B+ to take mathematics at a-levels as it can be very difficult.

Best wishes
