UCL grade requirements

i’ve just finished my chemistry a-level paper 1. totally bombed it. i don’t think i’m getting higher than a D.

my plan is to try and do well enough on the other papers so i can get a C as that’s the maximum i think i can get.

my firm choice is UCL to do construction project management. it’s a contextual offer of ABB. i have a feeling my grades will end up being ABC or AAC. does anyone know what the chances are of me still getting in? and what the process would look like?

thanks ! <3

If you are correct and you don't meet your offer...

UCL will first accept all those who did meet their offer then, if there are still spaces on the course, look at near misses including you. Some will be accepted, some won't.

They do this before you get your results so you will know when UCAS updates on results day.

having studied at UCL, I can say its more possible they will take you compared to if you were applying for lets say econ for example, but other universities in London are just as good with similar prospects if you don't get in

Your course is quite niche in comparison to other courses like Econ and CS so I feel like you should be OK? I hope I've not jinxed anything for you.

thank you ! i read their website and apparently they cannot take any grade below a B :/ but i’m hoping if i call on results day and explain i had one bad paper that brought my overall grade down, they might let me in ?
i’m also thinking of mentioning that i have already secured a job placement in my field, not sure if they’d care but maybe it’d help

I know of one person who was accepted with a C grade in one subject. I can't comment on their circumstances as to why they got a C in the main exam. However, they were contextual and also not in a very competitive course but it wasn't an undersubscribed course either. I think they did call UCL on results day to get them accepted.

aw good for them! hopefully i can be as lucky as them as i was given a contextual offer too. were their other grades higher than the requirements for their offer or did they just meet the other two requirements ?

Their offer was ABB and got ABC so just met their requirements of the offer in the other two subjects.
