reported for suspicion of cheating during an exam when i didn’t

economics paper 1 exam under edexcel exam board,
during the exam i used the back of my hand to draw diagram i wanted to practice it a few times before i wrote it this was also just out of habit and by god i did not think it would mean this much. if i wanted to cheat wouldn’t i do it in a less BLATANT area. a couple of minutes go by and an invigilator points at my hand and says “you can’t do that” and that she’s going to have to report it. i was taken out in the middle of the exam to be told i was going to be reported to the exam board they took a picture of my hand (which by the way the diagram was incomplete and drawn wrong 🤦*♀️) after this they take me back into the exam hall and she did tell me i was supposed to be given extra time. i didn’t hear her correctly so i asked her to repeat herself. in my defense i was rlly ******* stressed out and i didn’t even hear her the second time either. we were in the exam hall by that time too so i didn’t ask her to repeat it a third time and due to their own issues of miscommunication my paper was taken earlier. for anyone who says why didn’t you say anything? why on earth would i?? these people are trained and surely if i was supposed to be given extra time they would have just given it. who tf am i to go “no!” infront of my entire class too. after my exam i contemplated it a lot and i went back to school to tell them i should’ve been given extra time. she said she can’t do anything abt it and that it’s going to be taken into special consideration. which is fine that’s not the issue. the issue was she tried pinning it on me for not asking for extra time even tho it was a mistake on THEIR end for not communicating, but even then i didn’t even say anything back to her. then when i got home my brother who is also sitting exams same time as me he told me that there is cameras in the hall WHICH BY GOD WHY DIDNT THEY JUST CHECK BEFORE (this is partly why i feel like they’re refusing to tell the exam board about the footage because they didn’t check it before reporting). i then proceeded to send a lengthy paragraph to one of the teachers who took me out of the exam hall defending myself and asking her to just check the cameras. to me she was a lot more approachable than the lady who tried saying it was my fault. there was zero response. i emailed again and again there was zero response. i happened to bump into her at school and asked her about it. she said she forwarded it to the lady i mentioned before and that it’s “out of her hands” i then went to a teacher who i consider a lot closer to me and she told me to go to the same lady who told me “its out of her hands” i explained to her that she just said she doesn’t want to be involved and just forwarded it to some one else (which btw why the could she not just say? why did she have to air my email ) it was clear she didn’t even read the email because i asked for her to check the footage and the person who is able to check the footage is HER!. by the end of this the deputy head told me to come back on monday to get it sorted, i wasn’t able to come back on monday so i just emailed her. again no response so the week went on and i just gave them some time cause their whole point was ‘they’re really busy right now’ so then about two weeks later i go again. which is today. i went to the lady who i was a bit intimidated of and i told her do you have any updates? she said they don’t give updates on the report and that the exam board will get back when they want too which can be on results day. fair enough. then i said did you check the footage ? she said that there was no way to check if i had drawn on my hand because the footage is not clear and that she went through ‘hours of footage’ which again is a lie because you can just check the time of the exam and check the time of the footage 😂😭 then i said could i see the footage incase i she was lying. she said my head was down which is i don’t think it’s true again because the direction of the camera is not directly above me it’s above and infront and to the left of me a little. furthermore she replies we’re not allowed to give you that footage. my friend behind me even asks me infront of her where were you sitting ? in the front right? (clearly insinuating i wasn’t sitting that far how is it possible you can’t see.) she said she doesn’t want to discuss further 💀💀😭😭😭(ofc she doesn’t cause she’s not the one being reported ??) and then it’s basically a slight back and fourth of her explaining about how it’s not clear etc. and then at the end she so passively aggressively says “btw in the exam it says you can’t take any internal pieces of work outside of the exam”. i did actually say something back this time and i basically said how is my hand the same as a piece of paper and that secondly it was just out of habit i didn’t think much of it she couldn’t say anything back and we ended up leaving her office. MY QUESTION IS can anyone help me. i don’t even know where to start? am i in the wrong? should i bring my parents in? should i contact the exam board ? should i ask to see the footage again? it literally ****es me off so much especially because i’m not the flipping teacher in this situation why do i need to go to lengths to find out if there’s a camera constantly email them to just check the camera constantly visit their offices as if im bothering them SOO MUCHH plus from the get go they could have atleast been a bit more mature not once did they say “ feel free to ask questions “ there was nothing i was just expected to be fine with them reporting me😭😭😭like wth? why am i automatically being accused of cheating the only people who are backing me are my subject teachers and the rest of the people who can actually do something about it by default deemed me a cheater. i’m so frustrated

I understand how frustrating it is but at the same time from an invigilators point fo view there should be no writing on your hands and so if you have written on your hands you could have done it to help the person next to you etc. If I were you for your next exams ask for a scrap sheet of paper and then cross through working out because all working out or rough notes should be in the exam booklet

all u can do is get ur parents to talk to the exams officer and contact ur unis with info about what's going on so that they're aware of what's happening

The exams officer is the person you need to speak to. It's unusual to be taken out of an exam as well. Write a full account in plain langauge [no emotions or swearing] and have that ready.

it’s a bit tricky to get my parents in but when i see my dad i’m going to let him know. also what do i say to my universities ? thank you for responding

Write the facts with timings if you can. You'll need to go to the Exams Officer's line manager who is probably someone Senior.

go to the largest authority figure at your school, in person, and explain your case. She was not wrong to call you out for the writing on your hand, but was wrong to do everything after. Chances are, the exam boards will just read a report your school makes and thats it - push your case and dont be silenced as it makes it seem like you are giving up your "excuse." if you are in view of cameras, you have your reasoning and your defence.
