BPP or University of Law

Hi guys, I am looking to do the LLM with SQE 1&2 at either University of Law or BPP University. I've heard mixed reviews about both of these unis. The ULaw course is online but the BPP is on-campus in Central London. Which is the better university out of the two? And what other unis are good to apply if I want to do SQE?
Both have their pros and cons, so it really depends on what suits you best. We’ve done some research on the different SQE prep providers that you may find helpful - BPP and UofL are included in it: https://www.practiceworks.io/guides/sqe-exam-prep-providers
Hope that helps!

I am just about to complete the LLM from BPP.
What attracted me was the opportunity to combine the SQE 1 and 2 training with studying a Masters, I felt I could kill two birds with one stone, so In short I was a little greedy!!
The course is very, very intensive and is an absolute marathon. It is over 13 months of non stop studying and exams, with the joy of SQE 1 and 2 exams to sit also. I have literally not had a day off since the course started and the workload is simply unrelenting. As a flavour, BPP expects you to sit formative exams on January 6th, effectively wiping out the whole Christmas and New Year period.
This method and mode of study could be described as

Hi there!

Choosing between BPP and ULaw for the LLM with SQE 1&2 depends on what you're looking for in terms of study mode, structure, and support. Both institutions have strong reputations for legal education and offer solid preparation for the SQE, but they cater to different student needs.

BPP University is well known for its practical, career-focused approach. It offers in-person teaching in Central London, which could be a big advantage if you prefer face-to-face learning, networking opportunities, and a structured routine. BPP also has strong industry connections, particularly with law firms, which may be beneficial when seeking employment. The downside is that the cost is higher, and some students feel that the teaching can be quite intensive. BPP’s LLM SQE1&2 course integrates preparation for both exams while also allowing you to develop legal knowledge beyond the core SQE syllabus. If you’re looking for an on-campus experience and value a practical, skills-based approach, BPP could be a great choice.

ULaw, on the other hand, offers a more flexible approach, with both online and in-person options. ULaw has a reputation for its extensive resources and study materials, which some students find helpful for self-paced learning. It’s also one of the most established providers of legal education in the UK. The SQE preparation courses at ULaw are well-structured and comprehensive, but some students feel that the support can be a bit limited compared to BPP. If you prefer a structured but flexible approach with strong online learning resources, ULaw might be the better fit.

In terms of pricing, ULaw tends to be slightly more affordable, especially for online courses, whereas BPP's in-person learning experience comes at a higher cost.

If you’re considering other universities for SQE preparation, you might want to look at BARBRI, which offers self-paced learning and is known for its high pass rates, or City University of London, which has a well-regarded SQE LLM program.

Ultimately, your decision should depend on your learning style, whether you want the structure of in-person classes or the flexibility of online learning, and how important industry connections are for you. All the best!
