PMCC

Just a quick question re: the PMCC. I understand that it ranges from -1 to 1, being negative and positive correlation respectively, but don't understand what the r value and significance level have to do with it? Exam questions always seem to include this data, but what exactly are you supposed to do with this?

The r value is typically what you think of as the correlation coefficient and the significance level represents a hypothesis test, where the null hypothesis is no/zero correlation and youre testing to see if there is (alternative hypothesis) a significant correlation
