What should I do during my summer?

I'm finishing year 11 now and I'm having a lot of people tell me different stuff, some saying I should just chill and make the most of my summer until sixth form, some saying I should get started on A-Level content now, and some saying I should start working on my supercurricular activities. Any advice? Would it even be worth it to get a head start on A-Level content and/or supercurriculars for my personal statement?

I would strongly suggest doing some work experience. I did this the summer after year 11 and it relieved so much pressure from year 12 as I had one less thing to think about doing for uni. As mentioned, a summer job or volunteering would also be good!

tysm! if you don't mind me asking, did you do in person work experience for the entire summer or a few virtual work experiences that last for like a few days? and what if i'm not sure about what i want to do after school but i know what broad area i want to work in, should i just do as many work experiences as i can for as many different job markets as possible or should i focus on one?

I did one in-person work experience for a week and then one virtual one that I did over several weeks over the summer. I’d say I try get a few in the general areas that you’re interested in but some more transferable ones would be something more secretarial.
learn some transferable skills

It completely depends on the topic. I’ve done 2 different virtual ones overall and one was boring and one was fun. Just do some research to see if you’ll like it. But then again if you don’t find learning about your chosen career fun then maybe it’s not the right career for you.

id say you dont need to look at alevel content but using the time to do some supercurriculars would be very helpful because you'll save yourself so much time when you're actually doing your alevels. or research about the degree you want (if you know that) and read some books related to it because then you can also write about them in your personal statement
