Is catered accommodation worth it at Nottingham?

There's been complications with me applying, and right now it's looking like about 8,375 for catered or 6,375 for self-catered. This seems very stupid to ask considering how much money that is but how worth it is catered in terms of the social side of things mainly?
Personally I found catered much more social and you also get a £25 budget to spend each week. There is cheaper catered options such as Rutland hall which is also really social but you have to move out in the holidays

Hi @sunsetvall3y !

The choice ultimately depends on a number of factors that you may need to take into consideration. The self-catered options arguably give you more flexibility for planning your meals and cooking. Moreover, it allows you to develop some essential skills that you will find useful during your life! Nonetheless, it is true that self-catered is cheaper to begin with but you need to factor the cost of your weekly/monthly shopping into it to have a better estimate in terms of the overall costs. As for catered accommodation, you do not need to worry about cooking since breakfast and dinner are provided in the dining hall. So, in a way, it could be more convenient.

When it comes to the social aspect, it can vary depending on the situation. In any setting, you might live alongside students you connect with right away or with whom you do not connect as easily. However, they are not the only individuals you will encounter; there are also your coursemates, members of various societies, and other students in the building.

I hope it helps!

Abián.
