Y13 summer

Hi, how can i make the most of y13 summer. Alongside the break, I'd want to do something useful such as work experience or skills sessions. Is there any specific programmes or companies that will help! (specific to the financial industry)

Hi @dani_learner

It's great to hear that you're looking for something worthwhile to do during the summer holidays!

I just answered a similar question here. I said something along the lines of...

Have you considered volunteering?

Volunteering is a fantastic way to gain skills, boost your confidence, and build experience. It's also incredibly fulfilling. You can find volunteer roles in any sector that interests you. If you're specifically interested in finance, there may be opportunities available. However, remember that soft skills can be developed in any role, in any sector. So, don't be disheartened if you can't find a finance-related role. The act of volunteering, using your free time to help others and gain new experiences, is highly commendable!

I volunteered at a school, reading to children one morning every week. I currently volunteer with West Midlands Police, in various roles, including admin, teaching, and policing. I have loved every minute of it!

Have a great summer!

Thank you so much Ana,
I’ll definitely look into some sort of volunteering, I think I’ll look into something to help others for sure, to gain new experiences and knowledge.
