help pls..

hey guys, so I have a few questions

My teacher said when applying to university, being in a disadvantaged school and getting top grades is much better than going to a school like LEH or Tiffin and getting top grades. This is because your grades compared to the average grades have a big difference.

My school has mostly students from disadvantaged backgrounds, however it is one of the top schools in its area, infact it is competing with some private and grammar schools. But I would still like to join Tiffin Girls as it is a great school. My real question is: is it better to stay at my current school or go to Tiffin Girls? Also, do universities actually check all of that information? If anyone could, could they let me know exactly what about you a university looks into when considering your application?

I understand that universities are looking to accept more students from poorer backgrounds. But say if I went to Tiffin Girls and applied for Imperial College London to study medicine, would they accept me with top grades? I would still be from a poor background, just in a better school with smarter students.

Sorry for the long post. This is really important to me. I'm in year 9, and I'd like to try and move schools so I can have a fresh start in year 10 for my GCSEs. I really appreciate any answers given 🙂 thanks!

I think tiffin would be better as you would have more competition therefore more motivation

Medical schools are going more and more for students with disadvantages like school/area ect but I would definitely go for the school with smarter students because they'll push you further.

are you thinking of joining tiffin in year 10 or sixth form? i think its best to join in sixth form because i go there and literally no one gets accepted throughout year 7- 11 unless someone leaves.. always worth trying but just a headsup.. also reallly do try and get the best grades to join our sixth form because the teachers are amazinggg also its just really fun and such a nice community.. and with consistency you will definitely get top grades in a-level and be able to go to imperial or any first choice uni as many students from here do..

When you say that nobody gets accepted, do you mean generally in secondary schools or just tiffin??
I joined my secondary school in year 8 and I fit in fine (I’d think so bc I don’t have any problems with others, and vice versa)

I go to tiffin for sixthform and it's so competitive there, but I got 5/5 uni offers to study physics at top universities. the competitiveness is nice (kinda) because it motivates you to be the best honestly, however if you dont deal well under pressure it can be a bit toxic... but otherwise ive really enjoyed my time there and its such a nice community

Congrats on getting all 5 offers!
I'm also planning on doing physics/natural sciences at uni. If you don't mind, could you tell me which alevels you did and which unis you applied to? Also how does tiffin prepare you for uni entrance exams and interviews?
